We were approached in November by a landlord who had been renting out a property since the previous year. He thought he had plenty of time to complete his rental accounts as his first 12 months had only just ended.
He then decided to look for an accountant and came across an article on the Marslands website about rental accounts. In this it mentioned they need to be made up to the 5th April and submitted by January 31st! He started to panic and felt stupid as he only had two months to submit his rental figures to HMRC.
With the January deadline looming he called us and we agreed to an appointment straight away so we could help him out. We were happy to help as we had some spare capacity and it is an easy mistake to make
We reassured him that we would get his accounts completed before the deadline and that he had nothing to worry about. He was relieved that this was being dealt with as finding out about this so late gave him a bit of a scare.
We completed and submitted his accounts and tax return with time to spare. He was thankful that we kept our promise to get this submitted to HMRC on time.
